Zeng Leads Girls 10-15 at North Shore Junior

Glencoe, Ill.—The Mid-American Junior Golf Tour’ s North Shore Junior presented by Tour Greens got off to a blustery, cold start Saturday morning at Glencoe Golf Club. The course is in good shape despite rainy weather all week.
“Seeing all the rain this week made me a little nervous about the condition of the course, but the Glencoe Golf Club staff has done a great job in preparation for our tournament,” said Elisa Gomez, MAJGT manager of events.
The North Shore Junior is nationally recognized by the American Junior Golf Association and Junior Golf Scoreboard.
Varun Chopra (2017) of Champaign, IL sits atop the leaderboard of the Boys 10-12 Division. Carding birdies on Nos. 1, 6, and 10 helped Chopra to finish his round at 1-under par 72. Thomas Calbi (2017) of South Barrington, IL is in second place with a first round total of 75. Calbi recorded two birdies on the day at Nos. 2 and 17. Rounding out the division are Ryan Magee (2017) and Bennett Cotten (2018) who both shot rounds of 81.
In the Boys 13-15 Division, Lombard, IL native Russell Matos (2016) is the current leader with a first round score of 77. Matos, who is leading in Mini-Tour points, tallied two birdies on Nos. 6 and 8. Lake Forest, IL resident Luke Massar (2015) is in second place after recording two birdies en route to a 79. Brandon Nasatir (2014), Justin Choi (2017) and Timothy Lim (2017) are in a tie for third at the end of the day.
Selina Zeng (2017) of Oak Brook, IL is currently leading the Girls 10-15 Division. Zeng, who won the 2011 Blackberry Oaks Junior, shot a first round 88. Gianna Furrie (2017) is in second place after carding a first round 90. Myah Jackson (2018) rounds out the top three with a round of 91.
The final round of North Shore Junior is scheduled to start at 10 A.M. CST.
