  The Illinois Junior Golf Association is pleased to announce the following scholarship opportunities for 2010 graduating high school seniors.   In all, the IJGA has helped promote scholarships combining for a total of over $30,000 in monetary support available to IJGA members graduating in 2010. Below are the remaining opportunities for this year.
 

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR 2010


The Judy Banike Scholarship
Application Deadline: CLOSED
The recipient of the “Judy Banike Scholarship” will be awarded to one 2010 female Playing Member of the Illinois Junior Golf Association who have demonstrated academic excellence, golf experience, and extra-curricular involvement. In order to be eligible for this scholarship, the recipient must be registered for and compete in the Cog Hill Sizzler on July 1st and have been accepted at an accredited institution of high learning for the upcoming academic year.

The Kevin Streelman Scholarship
Application Deadline: CLOSED
The “Better People Through Junior Golf” scholarship was made possible by former IJGA member and current PGA player Kevin Streelman and his wife Courtney. This scholarship will be awarded to up to two 2010 Playing Members of the Illinois Junior Golf Association who have demonstrated superior leadership in the community, have a high grade point average and solid ACT scores. Recipients must also be accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning for the upcoming academic year.

The Motorola-Terry Jaron Golf Scholarship
Application Deadline: CLOSED
The Motorola-Terry Jaron Golf Scholarship in memory of longtime Motorola leader Terry Jaron. Jaron touched the lives of countless Motorola customers, dealers, and employees. He also loved golf and was a huge supporter of junior golf which is why Motorola is proud to honor Terry by supporting some of the best talent in junior golf, who also happen to be some of the brightest high school scholars in the state. In order to be eligible for this award, you must display a high grade point average, excellent ACT scores, and a solid math & science background. Up to four scholarships will be awarded to 2010 Playing Members of the Illinois Junior Golf Association entering their freshman year of college this fall.

Alice Meyer Brown Scholarship
Application Deadline: CLOSED
The Alice Meyer Brown Scholarship seeks to encourage and promote the attainment of higher educational goals for women who have excelled in golf, achieved academic excellence, and proven to be a leader in the community. The recipient of this scholarship must be a resident of Illinois, have been accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning for the upcoming school year, and will continue their competitive golf career in college.

Louis M. Brown Scholarship
Application Deadline: CLOSED
The Louis M. Brown Scholarship is open to men entering their freshman year of college in the fall who: have excelled in golf, accomplished academic excellence, and have demonstrated outstanding leadership in his community. This scholarship is open to all men who are residents of Illinois, have been accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning for the next academic year, and who will continue their competitive golf career in college.

2010 Don Pieper Scholarship
Application Deadline: CLOSED
The Don Pieper Scholarship seeks to encourage and promote the attainment of higher education goals for youth in the following two categories: 1) children, grandchildren, child-in-laws, nieces or nephews of Illinois Section PGA members and 2) Illinois residents pursuing a degree in Professional Golf Management (PGM). Up to six scholarships will be awarded to individuals who fit these categories and who are currently enrolled at an institution of higher learning, or who have been accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning for the upcoming academic year starting in the fall. Applicants will be evaluated on academic achievement as well as extracurricular and community involvement.

Maggie Rogers Scholarship
Application Deadline: CLOSED
The Maggie Rogers Scholarship will award up to two scholarships for the 2010-2011 academic year. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be a 2010 female Playing Member of the Illinois Junior Golf Association and be registered and compete in the Maggie Rogers Memorial. Applicants must have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the community and have been accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning for the upcoming academic year.

Kellman Scholarship
Application Deadline: CLOSED
The Kellman Scholarship is open to 2010 Playing Members of the Illinois Junior Golf Association who are registered for and compete in the Kellman Memorial Open. To be eligible for this award, one must have demonstrated superior leadership in community or school-related volunteer or club activity, and have been accepted at an accredited institution of higher learning for the upcoming school year. Up to two scholarships will be awarded for the 2010-2011 academic year.
