The Bruce Slovitt ACE Grant
Bruce Slovitt, IJGA Governing Board member and friend died on Sunday, July 9, 2006. At his family’s request, a Memorial Fund to support the Illinois Junior Golf Association (IJGA) and the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) was established. This fund has in turn established the Bruce Slovitt ACE Grant, and the accompanying IJGA Bruce Slovitt Memorial Grant.
All applications for these grants will be taken through the AJGA’s ACE Grant program. To be considered for the Bruce Slovitt ACE Grant, all candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Candidates must be between the ages of 12-18 and a current AJGA member. (For AJGA membership information, visit www.ajga.org)
- Candidates must clearly establish their need for financial assistance.
- Candidates must provide supporting documents in order to verify their financial standing.
No applications will be accepted after August 1. Grants will be awarded to qualified applicants on a first come, first served basis. AJGA ACE Grants provide financial assistance to those juniors who can compete on a national junior golf level, but are limited due to financial constraints.
Recipients of the Bruce Slovitt ACE Grant will also receive a proportional IJGA Bruce Slovitt Memorial Grant. This grant provides assistance for juniors to compete in AJGA recognized events administered by the IJGA. Financial assistance to offset AJGA recognized IJGA event entry fees will allow recipients the opportunity to build status within the AJGA locally, so that they may have more opportunity to utilize the Bruce Slovitt ACE Grant on the national AJGA competitive stage.
