LEMONT, Ill. – The Illinois Junior Golf Association hosted the 19th Annual DuPage County Junior Classic over the weekend. Five champions were decided: Boys 15-18 Division, Brendan O’Reilly (2017) of Hinsdale, Ill.; Boys 13-14, Pierce Grieve (2021) of Lake Forest, Ill.; Girls 13-18, Brianne Bolden (2019) of Mokena, Ill.; Boys 11-12, Ryan Banas (2023) of Winnetka, Ill.; and Girls 11-12, Lexi Schulman (2023) of Vernon Hills, Ill.

The DCJC is a 36-hole, individual stroke play event which was contested on the Prairie Landing GC for the Boys 15-18 Division and the Maple Meadows GC for the Boys 11-14 Divisions and Girls 11-18 Divisions. This event had an additional add-on option to make it an IMG Academy Junior World Qualifier. The Boys 15-18 Division played the par 72 Prairie Landing GC from 6,635 yards. The Girls 13-18 Division played the par 71 Maple Meadows GC from 5,630 yards, while the Boys 13-14 Division played the course as a par 70 from 6,222 yards. Also playing Maple Meadows in a weather shortened event, were the Boys 11-12 Division, who played from 5,630 yards, and the Girls 11-12 Division, who played from 5,339 yards.

O’Reilly, who is coming off a win at the 2017 Medinah Country Shrine Jr Invitational earlier this month, carded a tournament total of 3-under-par 141. A final round 4-under-par 68, which included six birdies, boosted O’Reilly to the top spot on the leaderboard in the Boys 15-18 Division. This is O’Reilly’s third DCJC victory, the previous wins coming in 2015 and 2014.

Coming in runner-up was Tommy Kuhl (2018) of Morton, Ill., who finished the event with a 2-under-par 142 tournament total. In third place was William Nummy (2018) of Winnetka, Ill., with a two-day total of 1-over-par 145. Rounding out the top 5 was Devin Johnson (2017) of Geneva, Ill., and Danny Fisher (2019) of Lake Forest, Ill., who each carded a tournament total of 2-over-par 146.

The two individuals advancing to the IMG Academy Junior Worlds in the Boys 15-18 Division are Kuhl and Nummy.

In the Boys 13-14 Division, Grieve carded a two-day total of 7-over-par 147 to earn champion honors. This was Grieve’s first appearance at the DCJC event. Grieve will advance to the IMG Academy Junior Worlds.

In second place was Miles Patterson (2020) of Wilmette, Ill., with a two-day total of 11-over-par 151. In third was Clint Bailes (2021) of Lake Forest, Ill., with a tournament total of 12-over-par 152 and rounding out the top 5 were Shubham Nain (2021) of Westmont, Ill., and Benjamin Sluzas (2021) of Lockport, Ill., who finished the tournament with a 14-over-par 154.

In the Girls 13-18 Division, Bolden carded an opening round of 1-under-par 70, before finishing the event at 7-over-par 149. Bolden carded four birdies and 21 pars over the course of two days. Her previous best finish at the DCJC event came in 2013 when she came in runner-up.

Coming in runner-up was Haeri Lee (2018) of Buffalo Grove, Ill., who carded an 8-over-par 150 tournament total. In third was Roshannah Gaur (2018) of Hinsdale, Ill., who finished the two-days at 9-over-par 151.

The two individuals advancing to the IMG Academy Junior Worlds in the Girls 15-18 Division are Bolden and Gaur. The individuals from the Girls 13-14 Division is Stephanie Su (2021) of South Barrington, Ill.

The 11-12 Division event was shortened to an 18 hole event contested on Sunday after weather came into the area early in the day on Saturday. In the Boys 11-12 Division, Banas carded an 8-over-par 79 to take home champion honors. His round included one birdie and nine pars, and gave him his best finish at the DCJC event. Banas’s previous best finish came in 2016 where he finished T9.

Coming in runner-up was Nicolas Simon (2024) of Elk Grove Village, Ill., who finished with an 11-over-par 82. In third was Troy Nason (2023) of Northbrook, Ill., who carded a 13-over-par 84. Rounding out the top 5 with a 14-over-par 85 were Jack Mulligan (2024) of Burr Ridge, Ill., Andrew Lim (2023) of Naperville, Ill., and Noah Zyung (2024) of Glenview, Ill.

The individual advancing to the IMG Academy Junior Worlds in the Boys 11-12 Division is Banas.

In the Girls 11-12 Division, Schulman carded 7-over-par 78 to earn top honors. Her round included two birdies and eight pars, which gave her an eight shot lead over runner-up Alexandra Santos (2023) of Des Plaines, Ill. In third place was Ella Greenberg (2023) of Rockford, Ill., who finished the event at 18-over-par 89.

The individual advancing to the IMG Academy Junior Worlds in the Girls 11-12 Division is Schulman.
