BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Mid-American Junior Golf Tour’s final championship of the 2016 season came to a close Thursday after three days of competitive golf. In the Boys Division, Dallas Koth (2018) of Bloomington, Ill., took home top honors after defeating Jack McGuire (2017) of Park Ridge, Ill., in a playoff.

The Championship at The Den is a 54-hole, stroke play event played on The Den at Fox Creek in Bloomington, Ill. This boys-only event featured 79 junior golfers from Illinois and New York ages 12-18. The field played the par 72 course from 6,669 yards.

The MAJGT is designed for exceptionally talented junior golfers throughout the Midwest ages 12-18 and is nationally recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and American Junior Golf Association with all of its events providing national exposure.

Koth carded a three day total of 3-over-par 219 to force a playoff with McGuire. This was Koth’s first MAJGT victory, his best finish coming earlier this year at the Illinois Classic where he came in third.

In third was Austin Freeman (2017) of Dekalb, Ill., who carded a tournament total of 5-over-par 221. One shot back, in fourth, is Robert Garmoe (2017) of Arlington Heights, Ill., with a three day total of 6-over-par 222. Rounding out the top-5 was Jason Folker (2017) of Lake Forest, Ill., carding a tournament total of 7-over-par 223.

The final MAJGT event of the summer will take place August 8-9 at Blackstone GC in Marengo, Ill.
