NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Mid-American Junior Golf Tour’s Notre Dame Classic concluded Tuesday after two rounds of competitive golf. In the Boys Division, Aidan Lafferty (2019) of Downers Grove, Ill., took home his second MAJGT victory of the 2018 season. In the Girls Division, Reese Wilson (2021) of Chicago, finished two strokes better than the runner-up Darby Lillibridge (2018) of Geneva, Ill.

The Notre Dame Classic was a 36 hole, Stroke Play competition which was contested on The Warren Course at Notre Dame. The field featured 89 junior golfers ages 12-22 coming from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Louisiana. The Boys Division played the course as a par 71 from 7,019 yards, while the Girls Division and College Division played the course as a par 72 from 6,002 yards.

The MAJGT is designed for exceptionally talented junior golfers throughout the Midwest ages 12-18 and is nationally recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and American Junior Golf Association with all of its events providing national exposure.

Lafferty carded a 6-over-par 148 tournament total, one stroke better than runner-up Sam Bartolone (2021) of Elmhurst, Ill. Lafferty’s final round included a 2-under-par 34 back-nine. This was Lafferty’s second MAJGT victory of 2018, his first coming at the Donald Ross Classic earlier this year.

Bartolone finished the tournament with a 7-over-par 149 tournament total. In third place was John Wild (2022) of Glen Ellyn, Ill., who carded a 10-over-par 152 total. Rounding out the top five, after each carding an 11-over-par 153, were Josh Yoder (2020) of Granger, Ind., and Paulius Malcius (2022) of Lemont, Ill.

In the Girls Division, Wilson carded rounds of a 6-over-par 78 and a 9-over-par 81 to give her a tournament total of 15-over-par 159. This was her first MAJGT victory, Wilson’s previous best finish came in 2016 at the Blackstone Classic where she finished second.

Lillibridge carded a 17-over-par 161 total to come in runner-up in the Girls Division. Rounding out the five were Emily Chang (2021) of Chicago, Nicole Jordan (2018) of St. Charles, Ill., and Caroline Wing (2019) of Indian Head Park, Ill., who each carded an 18-over-par tournament total.

This event also featured a Women’s College Division. Amy Kucera of Riverside, Ill., defeated Margaret Hickey of Glencoe, Ill., in a sudden death playoff after both players carded 7-over-par 151 tournament totals. They also both each carded even-par 72 opening rounds.
