The Medinah Shrine Junior Invitational is an annual event benefiting the Medinah Country Shrine and the Chicago Shriners Hospital for Children. The IJGA has donated nearly $200,000 to the Shriners Hospital for Children since this event’s inception.  This one-day, invite-only event, is a 36-hole stroke play competition for boys and girls 14-18 and is recognized by both JGS and AJGA. Please note that this event is a first come, first served and will fill up quickly. This is not a Player of the Year point awarding event. Invitations for this event were sent on January 21, 2020.

This event will take place on Monday, May 11, 2020.

BOYS MEDINAH COUNTRY SHRINE INVITATIONAL QUALIFYING CRITERIA

IJGA

  • Top 50 Finishers and ties from the past season IJGA Junior and Senior Player of the Year standings.
  • All players that make the cut at the Illinois State Junior Amateur Championship.
  • Top 5 and ties from each of last season’s Players Challenge events.
  • Top 10 and ties from the past season’s Medinah Country Junior Shriners Invitational.
  • Top 8 Finishers and ties from the past season CDGA Junior Amateur.
  • Top 8 Finishers and ties from the past season IJGA DuPage County Junior Classic (Both Boys Divisions.)
  • Top 3 Finishers and ties from all the past season’s Playing Member Stroke Play with Division Field Size 45 players or more.
  • Top 2 Finishers and ties from all the past season’s Playing Member Stroke Play with Division Field Size 21-44 players.
  • Winner of all the past season’s Playing Member Stroke Play with Division Field Size 20 or less players.
  • Match Play Qualifiers (32) from the past season Chick Evans Junior Amateur Championship.

MAJGT

  • Top 5 finishers at all past season’s MAJGT Classics or Opens

OUTSIDE EVENTS

  • Top 10 Finishers and ties from the past season Individual IHSA Class A, AA, & AAA State Championships.
  • Top 10 Finishers from the past season’s USGA Junior Amateur – Illinois Qualifier.
  • Top 10 Finishers and ties from the past season’s PGA Junior – Illinois Qualifier.

YDP (players must be ages 14-18 as of 08/15/2018)

  • Top 5 Finishers and ties from the past season IJGA YDP Player of the Year Point standings.
  • Top 3 Finishers and ties from the past season YDP Player of the Year Championship, 12-13 Division.

OTHER

  • Top 50 National Junior Golf Scoreboard – Illinois Rankings as of January 1st of the current season.

  • Top 15 Finishers and ties from the past season IJGA Junior and Senior Player of the Year standings.
  • Top 5 and ties from each of last season’s Players Challenge Events.
  • Top 10 and ties from the past season’s Medinah Country Junior Shriners Invitational.
  • Top 8 Finishers and ties from the past season CDGA Junior Amateur.
  • Top 8 Finishers and ties from the past season IJGA DuPage County Junior Classic.
  • Top 2 Finishers and ties from all the past season’s Playing Member Stroke Play events with Division Field Size 12 or more.
  • Winner from all past season’s Playing Member Stroke Play events with Division Field Size 11 or under.
  • Match Play Qualifiers (16) from the past season CEJA.

MAJGT

  • Top 2 and ties at all past season’s MAJGT Classics or Opens

PLEASE NOTE: The IJGA Tournament Committee will accept special exemption requests for this event. These requests must be submitted to Brett Dreier (bdreier@ijga.org) by Friday, March 27, 2020. Requests should contain an explanation on why the player is not exempt or why they cannot qualify and also include a past tournament resume. Tournament Committee decisions will be made by Friday, May 1, 2020 and communicated to the player.
