WILMETTE, Ill. – The Mid-American Junior Golf Tour’s North Shore Open concluded Saturday after being shortened to 27 holes due to the forecasted weather on Sunday. In the Boys Division, Robert Beaubien Jr (2019) of Barrington, Ill., took top honors, while in the Girls Division, Nicole Ciskowski (2019) of Lake Barrington, Ill., earned her third MAJGT victory.
The MAJGT North Shore Open was a 36-hole, Stroke Play competition, which was shortened to 27 holes due to weather coming into the area. The field was made up of 73 junior golfers ages 12-18. The Boys Division played the par 70 Wilmette GC from 6,365 yards, while the Girls Division played the course from 5,560 yards.
The MAJGT is designed for exceptionally talented junior golfers throughout the Midwest ages 12-18 and is nationally recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and American Junior Golf Association with all of its events providing national exposure.
Beaubien carded a 1-under-par 69 during the first round, and a 3-over-par 38 during the final round. His 2-over-par 107 tournament total was two strokes better than runner-up finisher Aaron Chong (2020) of Glenview, Ill. This was Beaubien’s second MAJGT victory, his first came at the 2018 MAJGT Highland Woods Classic. Beaubien will be attending Illinois Wesleyan University in the fall, where he will be a member of the Men’s Golf team.
Chong finished the tournament with a 4-over-par 109 tournament total. Tied for third, with a 5-over-par 110 tournament total, were Danny Fisher (2019) of Lake Forest, Ill., and Patrick Adler (2021) of Winnetka, Ill. Rounding out the top five were Jack Paeglow (2020) of Dekalb, Ill., and Brian Joseph (2020) of Wilmette, Ill., who each carded a 6-over-par 111 tournament total.
Also of note in the Boys Division, Reindl Weaver (2019) of Deerfield, Ill., carded an albatross on the par 5, 17th during the first round.
In the Girls Division, Ciskowski carded a 4-over-par 74 during the opening round and a 6-over-par 41 during the final round to give herself a 10-over-par 115 total. The 2019 grad has committed to play golf at the University of Wisconsin in the fall.
Coming in runner-up was Audrey Tir (2021) of Winnetka, Ill., after carding a 14-over-par 119 tournament total, which included a 1-under-par 34 during the final round. Rounding out the top three was Mallroy Swartz (2020) of Franklin, Wis., who posted a total score of 16-over-par 121.
Next weekend the MAJGT heads to Orchard Valley GC in Aurora for the 2019 MAJGT Orchard Valley Open on April 20-21.
