BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Mid-American Junior Golf Association’s Championship at the Den concluded Thursday after three days of competitive golf. Carl Christiansen (2018) of Naperville, Ill., too home champion honors.
The MAJGT Championship at the Den is a 54-hole, stroke play event contested at The Den at Fox Creek in Bloomington, Ill. This boys-only championship featured 61 junior golfers ages 12-18 from Illinois and Wisconsin. The Boys Division played the par 72 course from 6,926 yards.
The MAJGT is designed for exceptionally talented junior golfers throughout the Midwest ages 12-18 and is nationally recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and American Junior Golf Association with all of its events providing national exposure.
Christiansen carded a final round score of 2-under-par 70 moving his tournament total to 1-over-par 217. His final round score included seven birdies and seven pars. This was Christiansen’s first MAJGT victory, his previous best finish was earlier this year at the Classic at Notre Dame where he finished eleventh.
Coming in runner-up was Mulbe Dillard (2017) of Chicago, Ill., who finished the tournament with a 5-over-par 221 total. In third was Peter Radler (2019) of Winnetka, Ill., who carded a 8-over-par 224 tournament total. Joshua Kirkham (2019) of Hinsdale, Ill., and Nicholas Sullivan (2018) of Naperville, Ill., each carded a 9-over-par 225 tournament total to finish the tournament at T4. In a three-way tie at T6 with a tournament total of 10-over-par 226 were: Zachary Pereira (2018) of Carbondale, Ill., Tyler Roat (2018) of Lockport, Ill., and Nate Caudle (2017) of Wayne City, Ill.
In ninth place was Justin Seymour (2018) of Wheaton, Ill., who finished the three days at 11-over-par 227. Rounding out the top ten were Scott Boyajian (2019) of Aurora, Ill., and Tony Palumbo (2018) of Bloomington, Ill., who each carded a 12-over-par 228.
