BARRINGTON, ILL – The final round of the 46th Illinois State Junior Amateur came to a close Thursday afternoon. 53 players made the cut and battled through stormy conditions in the afternoon. Ethan Farnam (2017) of Crystal Lake, Ill., was the most consistant competitor all week, and took home the Slovitt Cup after rounds of 74, 66 and 71.

The 46th ISJA is hosted at MaKray Memorial Golf Club in Barrington, Ill. MaKray has been hosting the ISJA Championship since 2007. The winner of the ISJA attains the Slovitt Cup, named for former IJGA Governing Board Member, Bruce Slovitt.  Bruce’s sons Phil and Michael remain the only brother combination to have won this event.

Farnam’s consistent play was just enough to claim the title by one stroke after closing his final round with seven straight pars. Kyle Slattery (2015) of Rockford, Ill., battled with Farnam all day, but a 2-under-par 69 on the final day was just not enough. Orion Yamat (2015) of Niles, Ill., rounded out the top three with a 4-over-par total of 217.

The ISJA format consists of 18-hole stroke play on Tuesday and Wednesday. A cut to the top-50 scores plus ties will determined the field for Thursday’s final round.
