DEKALB, Ill. – The Mid-American Junior Golf Tour’s Northern Illinois Classic concluded Tuesday after two rounds of competitive golf. In the Boys Division, Jack Paeglow (2020) of DeKalb, Ill., earned top honors after finishing the tournament with a 1-under-par 139 total. In the Girls Division, Megan Furtney (2019) of South Elgin, Ill., earned her second MAJGT victory of 2018 after finishing the tournament with a 2-under-par 144 tournament total. Kelly Anderson of DeKalb, Ill., earned top honors in the College Division after carding a 10-over-par 156 two-day total.

The MAJGT Northern Illinois Classic was a 36-hole, Stroke Play competition contested on Kishwaukee Country Club. The field featured 73 golfers ages 12-22 from Illinois and North Carolina. The Boys Division played the course as a par 70 from 6,325 yards, while the Girls Division and the College Division played the course as a par 73 from 5,505 yards.

The MAJGT is designed for exceptionally talented junior golfers throughout the Midwest ages 12-18 and is nationally recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and American Junior Golf Association with all of its events providing national exposure.

Paeglow carded a 4-under-par 66 during the final round moving him to the top of the leaderboard. The final round included five birdies and only one bogey. This was Paeglow’s first MAJGT victory. His best finish came earlier this year at the Donald Ross Classic, where he came in second.

Rounding out the top five, after each carding a 6-over-par 146 tournament total, were Tyler Reitz (2018) of Lombard, Ill., James Trachsel (2019) of Lake Forest, Ill., Parker Wisdom (2019) of Bloomington, Ill., and Jonathan Waugh (2021) of Bristol, Ill.

In the Girls Division, Furtney carded a final round of 5-under-par 68 to move up the leaderboard. Furtney’s final round included six birdies; three of which came on Nos. 4, 5 and 6. This was her second victory in 2018, the first coming at the Donald Ross Classic.

Coming in runner-up was Kelly Kavanagh (2020) of Arlington Heights, Ill., who carded a 2-over-par 148 tournament total. Rounding out the top three was Emma Carpenter (2019) DeKalb, Ill., who finished the tournament with a 3-over-par 149 total.
