GENERAL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
- Social distancing should always be practiced by maintaining six feet from others.
- Registration for 2021 events will be on the driving range or the practice putting green, when applicable. Information about each tournament will be sent the day prior to the event and will be posted on the tournament information page of each event.
- For on-site waiting lists, players should check in with a staff member at the driving range or practice putting green when applicable, or on the starting tee. The staff member will take the player’s phone number to call if a spot becomes available. After checking in with the staff member, the player should wait in the parking lot.
- We are following CDC guidelines regarding masks. Please be sure to have one with you, as different courses have different requirements at this time.
FOR SPECTATORS
- College coaches will be able to attend IJGA events
- Spectators are highly encouraged not to arrive on the main golf course property any earlier than 10 minutes before their player’s tee time. Any crowding of spectators in violation of social distancing may result in an IJGA staff member asking spectators to return to their vehicles.
- The IJGA will defer to the golf course regarding the use of spectator carts and will strictly follow the course guidelines and requirements. If the course does allow carts to spectators, the current IJGA policy for Spectator Carts will be enforced. Click HERE for the Spectator Cart policy.
- Spectators are allowed to carry food, drink and other items (umbrellas, outerwear, sunscreen, etc.) for their player/child and permitted to give such objects to players as long as it is done quickly, and they quickly return to social distancing.
- We strongly encourage spectators to forecaddie as much as possible to limit congregating on the tee and help with pace of play.
- Spectators will be permitted to assist in looking for lost balls with players and may communicate an entry point or approximate location to any player verbally, as long as social distancing is maintained.
- Once the group you are watching reaches the 18th green, we ask that you do not go to the player scoring area.
- Any spectator found to be in violation of any of these policies will be asked to vacate the primary golf property and to return to their car. Extreme offenses may result in a permanent ban from IJGA events for the spectator and, if necessary, the player.
WARMING UP PRIOR TO ROUND
- Warm-up times will be assigned for players. Driving range stalls will be spaced appropriately. Practice greens will also be limited based on the size of the greens. We will have a staff member at both locations to provide guidance.
- Players shall make every reasonable effort to arrive no more than 45 minutes before their scheduled tee time and shall remain in their car in the event the participant arrives earlier.
- Players are allowed on the driving range from 45 minutes to 20 minutes before their scheduled tee time.
- Players are allowed on the practice putting green from 20 minutes to ten minutes before their schedule tee time.
STARTING
- The IJGA will no longer provide the following items to players and should come prepared with tees, pencils, permanent markers, sunscreen, bug spray and ball markers.
- Players will only be provided their fellow competitor’s scorecard on the first tee.
- A staff member will be on the tee to start each group while social distancing and answer any questions players might have.
- Players must not shake hands or hug competitors.
DURING AND AFTER ROUND
- Once on the golf course, players must practice social distancing at all times. Once players reach the green, the first player to putt out should head to the next tee. If the group in front of you is still on the tee, please do not approach the tee and stay at the back of the green your group is currently playing. Once the players in your group reach the tee, the player can tee off. Once you have teed off, please stand on the opposite side of the tee box of the two players in your group.
- The IJGA will not provide or facilitate any shuttles. The only time players will be in a cart with another person is during an evacuation for a dangerous weather situation. During a weather delay, please head straight to your car. We strongly encourage each player to have a car on site but understand that this may not be possible. In the event of a weather delay, the IJGA will have designated evacuation locations(s) where players can social distance. In the event that the host facility does not have proper accommodations to properly maintain social distancing guidelines, the round will be cancelled and all players will leave the facility as soon as possible.
- Bunker rakes may be removed from the golf course. Players will be able to lift, clean and place their ball within one club length of where their original ball lied that is not nearer the hole and in the same bunker, even if there are bunker rakes on the course. Players are encouraged to smooth sand with their shoes or club when exiting the bunker.
- If a player needs a ruling, a phone number will be provided at each event to call and a staff member can either walk you through the ruling over the phone or engage the player while properly social distancing themselves from the player.
- Players must not shake hands or hug competitors after the round is completed.
- Once scoring is finished, each player will be instructed to head back to their cars and leave the property as soon as possible.
- Ties for 1st place will be decided by a scorecard playoff for single day events only. Ties will be broken by matching scorecards, as recommended by the USGA Rules of Golf.
- Ties for 1st place in multi-day events will be decided by an on-course playoff only when AJGA PBE Stars are offered.
The IJGA also asks that you use the following precautions:
- If you have a fever, cough or other symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home.
- Avoid touching your mouth, nose, lips and eyes.
- Wash your hands frequently. If you are unable to wash your hands, use hand sanitizer.
- Please familiarize yourself and follow best practices as published by the Center for Disease Control (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO) and state/local governments.
The IJGA staff will continue to monitor the above policies and adjust should restrictions be lifted. These restrictions will be set in place starting 4/2/2021 and will be followed until further notice.
