ELGIN, Ill. – The Mid-American Junior Golf Tour’s Classic at Highlands of Elgin concluded Tuesday after 36 holes. Devin Johnson (2017) of Geneva, Ill., was named champion in the Boys Division, while Emma Hayes (2019) of St. Charles, Ill., was named champion in the Girls Division.

The Classic at Highlands of Elgin was a 36-hole, stroke play event contested on the Highlands of Elgin Golf Course. The field consisted of 37 junior golfers ages 12-18. The Boys Division played the par 72 course from 7,000 yards, while the Girls Division played from 6,039 yards.

Johnson, who will be attending Loyola University this fall, carded a 1-over-par 145 tournament total. His final round of even-par 72 consisted of three birdies, 12 pars and only three bogeys. This was Johnson’s second MAJGT victory, his first coming at the 2015 Sanctuary Classic.

Runner-up in the Boys Division was Michael Holtz (2017) of Godfrey, Ill., who carded a 2-over-par 146 tournament total. In third was Tyler Reitz (2018) of Lombard, Ill., with a 5-over-par 149 two day total. In fourth was Nicholas Ceruzzi (2018) of Sterling, Ill., who finished at 7-over-par 151, and rounding out the top 5 was Mark Noonan (2019) of Vernon Hills, Ill., who finished the event at 10-over-par 154.

In the Girls Division, Hayes carded a tournament total of 22-over-par 166 to take home her first MAJGT victory. She carded rounds of 82 and 84.

Coming in runner-up was Madison McCoy (2018) of Batavia, Ill., with a 33-over-par 177 tournament total. Rounding out the top 3 was Lilly Gentzkow (2019) of Wilmette, Ill., who carded a 34-over-par 178 tournament total.

The MAJGT heads to West Lafayette, Ind., for the Purdue Classic June 22-23, 2017.
