FLOSSMOOR, Ill. – The Mid-American Junior Golf Tour’s Girls Championship at Flossmoor presented by the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship concluded Thursday after 36 holes of competitive golf. Margaret Hickey (2017) of Glencoe, Ill., took home champion honors in the Girls Division, while Jennifer Kim (2014) of Palatine, Ill., took home top honors in the College Division.
The MAJGT Girls Championship was a 36-hole, stroke play event contested on the par 72 Flossmoor Country Club. The field featured 61 golfers ages 12-22 from Illinois and Wisconsin. The field played the course from 6,013 yards.
The MAJGT is designed for exceptionally talented junior golfers throughout the Midwest ages 12-18 and is nationally recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and American Junior Golf Association with all of its events providing national exposure.
Hickey carded rounds of 12-over-par 84 and 5-over-par 77 for a two-day total of 17-over-par 161. Her final round included one birdie and 11 pars to beat runner-up Adrienne Rohwedder (2019) of Prospect Heights, Ill., by one stroke.
This is Hickey’s second MAJGT victory in 2017, the first coming during the spring at the Shepherd’s Crook Open in Zion, Ill.
Tied for third were Rosemarie Bundy (2017) of West Chicago, Ill., and Roshannah Gaur (2018) of Hinsdale, Ill., who each carded tournament totals of 20-over-par 164. Rounding out the top five was Kait Natividad (2020) of Yorkville, Ill., who finished the event at 21-over-par 165.
Kim carded a par on the second playoff hole to win the College Division. She carded a tournament total of 27-over-par 171.
Next the MAJGT heads to Wisconsin for the Kenosha Classic July 6-7, 2017.
