NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Mid-American Junior Golf Tour’s Classic at Notre Dame came to a close Tuesday after two rounds of golf at The Warren Course at Notre Dame. In the Boys Division, Jack McGuire (2017) of Park Ridge, Ill., took home top honors, while in the Girls Division, Nina Rutkowski (2018) of Park Ridge, Ill., claimed champion honors. In the College Division, Kiley Walsh of Mount Prospect, Ill., finished atop the leaderboard.
The Classic at Notre Dame is a 36 hole stroke play tournament contested over two days. The Boys Division played the par 71 course from 6,627 yards and the Girls Division, as well as the College Division, played the course from 5,693 yards.
In the Boys Division, McGuire carded a two-day total of 11-over-par 153, which gave him a one-stroke lead over the individuals who came in runner-up. This is McGuire’s first MAJGT victory, his previous best finish coming in 2015 at the Sanctuary Classic where he rounded out the top 3.
The two individuals who came in second were Mark Noonan (2019) of Vernon Hills, Ill., and Kyle Edwards (2017) of Bloomington, Ill., who each carded a tournament total of 12-over-par 154. In a three-way tie for third, at 13-over-par 155, were Patrick Ward (2018) of Chicago, Ill., Ryan Cagan (2018) of Naperville, Ill., and Edson Charles, Jr. (2018) of Mokena, Ill.
In the Girls Division, Rutkowski took home her first MAJGT victory this week after coming in runner-up at her last two MAJGT events – Championship at Geneva National and the Girls Championship at Royal Hawk. Rutkowski carded a tournament total of 5-over-par 147, six strokes better than the runner-up, Sarah Hauenstein (2018) of Wheaton, Ill.
Walsh carded a 1-under-par 141 tournament total to take the College Division. Coming in runner-up was Kelly Anderson of Wheaton, Ill., with a tournament total of 4-over-par 146.
The MAJGT heads to Chicago for the Harborside Classic July 13-14.
