RIVERWOODS, Ill. – The Mid-American Junior Golf Tour’s College Prep Classic concluded after 36 holes of golf on July 30. A sudden-death playoff in the Boys Division determined Clint Bailes (2021) of Lake Forest, Ill., the winner. In the Girls Division, Maria Perakis (2021) of Glenview, Ill., took home her second MAJGT victory in 2018.

The College Prep Classic was a 36-hole, Stroke Play competition contested at Ravinia Green Country Club on July 30. The field featured 69 junior golfers ages 12-18. The Boys Division played the par 72 course from 6,967 yards, while the Girls Division played from 5,598 yards.

The MAJGT is designed for exceptionally talented junior golfers throughout the Midwest ages 12-18 and is nationally recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and American Junior Golf Association with all of its events providing national exposure.

Bailes defeated Truman Keppy (2020) of Lakemoor, Ill., in a sudden death playoff which last one hole. The pair ended the tournament each carding a 2-over-par 146 after both carding an opening round of even-par 72 and a final round of 2-over-par 74. This was Bailes first MAJGT victory, his prior best finish came earlier this year at the Orchard Valley Open where he finished T18.

In third place in the Boys Division was Brayden Roy (2020) of Northbrook, Ill., who carded a 3-over-par 147. Rounding out the top five, after each carding a 5-over-par 149 tournament total were Max Kogen (2019) of Northbrook, Ill., and Adam Bornstein (2020) of Deerfield, Ill.

In the Girls Division, Perakis carded an opening round of 1-over-par 73, followed by a final round score of even-par 72, which gave her a tournament total of 1-over-par 145. Her final round included one birdie and one bogey. This was her second MAJGT win of 2018, her first victory this year came at the Kenosha Classic.

Coming in runner-up was Nicole Jordan (2018) of St. Charles, Ill., who carded a 5-over-par 149 tournament total. Rounding out the top three was Melanie Bailes (2019) of Lake Forest, Ill., who carded a 19-over-par 163 total.
