We would like to thank all of the participants and spectators for braving the elements today. Around 2:20 PM this afternoon, we suspended play due to the temperature and level of precipitation. While it was not necessarily dangerous, with the amount of play completed and the considerably better forecast for tomorrow, we deemed it best to finish the rest of play tomorrow.
We will resume play of Round 1 exactly where we left off today, at 9:00 AM tomorrow. Exact Instructions on how to resume play will be given in the morning. We do not anticipate a frost delay, but should it happen, we will send another email and text update like we did this morning. Practice facilities at both Twin Orchard and the range at Ballybunion are both scheduled to open at 7:30 AM. All players and spectators must check in at registration upon arrival.
Most groups have 5-6 holes remaining in Round 1. Our intention is to complete play of Round 1, score all players and repair for Round 2 with another shotgun start beginning as early as possible, likely around 11:00 AM. Players will be able to have lunch while we are repairing, or it will be available throughout the day if you would like to wait and eat later.
If pace of play is such that we are not going to have time to repair, or the forecast unpredictably changes, we will notify each group on-course prior to completion of Round 1 and we will ask that you continue right into Round 2 with no repair. In this scenario, we would distribute Round 2 scorecards to you on-course and you will play Round 2 with the same group. While this option is unlikely, we wanted to make sure you were not caught off guard should it need to be utilized.
We continue to ask all players to be mindful of their pace of play tomorrow. We ask that the first two players in the group that hole out, walk to the next tee, determine their yardage/club selection and be ready to put a ball into play as soon as the rest of your group arrives. While it may seem like it only saves 15-30 seconds at a time, it adds up over the course of a round. This is done at the collegiate level and does help with pace of play.
We have uploaded scores from Round 1 online, but please remember that these scores are unofficial and could change in the official scoring if the group finds an error.
SPECTATOR CARTS: Please be aware that there is a strong chance no spectator carts will be allowed on the golf course tomorrow (regardless of circumstance), given the amount of expected rain tonight. We apologize for this potential inconvenience. We won’t know until the morning. If they will not be allowed, we will send an email and text update in the morning.
If you do not intend to show up tomorrow, please respond to this email, so we can adjust the groups accordingly prior to the resumption of play.
