BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. – The Illinois Junior Golf Association’s Youth Development Program host the first Junior Elite Event of the summer at Buffalo Grove GC last weekend.
The Summer Junior Elite Event #1 @ Buffalo Grove GC was a 36-hole, Stroke Play competition contested on June 2-3, at Buffalo Grove GC. The field featured 102 junior golfers ages 10-15. The Boys 12-15 Division played the par 72 course from 5,957 yards, while the Girls 12-15 Division and Boys 10-11 Division played the course as a par 73 from 5,229 yards. The Girls 10-11 Division also played the course as a par 73 from 4,499 yards.
The Illinois Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing playing opportunities for its members ages 8-18, conducting educational clinics and events, and serving as a junior golf informational clearinghouse.
In the Boys 12-15 Division, Danny Keating (2021) of Libertyville, Ill., carded a one-over-par 145 tournament total to take home top honors. His opening round was a 2-under-par 70, he finished the tournament with a 3-over-par 75.
Coming in runner-up was Samuel Mortell (2021) of Chicago, Ill., who carded a two-day total of 2-over-par 146. In third place was Charlie Creamean (2021) of Winnetka, Ill., who finished the tournament with a 4-over-par 148 total. Rounding out the top five was Clint Bailes (2021) of Lake Forest, Ill., and Stefan Ink (2023) of St. Charles, Ill., who each carded a 6-over-par 150 tournament total.
In the Boys 10-11 Division, Matthew Lim (2026) of Naperville, Ill., finished atop the leaderboard after carding a 29-over-par 175 tournament total. This was Lim’s second IJGA victory of 2018, the first coming at the YDP Season Opener @ Countryside.
In second place was Cori Lee (2026) of Buffalo Grove, Ill., who finish the tournament at 39-over-par 185. Rounding out the top three was Antonio Gutierrez (2025) of Elk Grove Village, Ill., who finished the event at 61-over-par 207.
In the Girls 12-15 Division, Lexi Schulman (2023) of Vernon Hills, Ill., took top honors after carding a 6-over-par 152. This was Schulman’s first win of 2018.
Runner-up in the Girls 12-15 Division was Catherine Reisinger (2021) of Park Ridge, Ill., who finished the tournament with a 7-over-par tournament total. Rounding out the top three was Maria Perakis (2021) of Glenview, Ill., who finished with a two-day total of 8-over-par 154.
In the Girls 10-11 Division, Lisa Copeland (2026) of Naperville, Ill., earned to honors after finishing the tournament at 11-over-par 157. This is Copeland’s second IJGA victory of 2018, the first happened at the YDP Season Opener @ Countryside.
Coming in runner-up in the Girls 10-11 Division was Allyson Duan (2025) of Buffalo Grove, Ill., who carded a 16-over-par 162 tournament total.
