Barrington, Ill. – The cut was made at the Illinois Junior Golf Association’s 53rd Illinois State Junior Amateur. Grant Roscich (2024) of Glen Ellyn, Ill., held onto his lead during the second round, emerging as the solo leader. The cut line was a 16-over-par 158 two-day total.
The Illinois State Junior Amateur (ISJA), also known as the Slovitt Cup, is a 54 hole, Stroke Play event, with a cut after 36 holes to the low 50 and ties. The field, made up of male junior golfers from Illinois ages 12-18, played the second round on the par 71 course from 6900 yards.
The Illinois Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing playing opportunities for its members ages 8-18, conducting educational clinics and events, and serving as a junior golf informational clearinghouse.
Roscich currently sits atop the leaderboard with a 4-under-par 138 total. He carded a 4-under-par 67 during the second round, which included six birdies and an eagle on his final hole of the day (No. 9). On the front nine, which served as his back nine, Roscich finished with a bogey-free, 5-under-par 30.
Currently in second place is Aman Shah (2022) of Aurora, Ill., with a total of 2-over-par 144. In third place is John Creamean (2024) of Winnetka, Ill. with a 3-over-par total of 145. Ryan Banas (2023) of Winnetka, Ill. sits at 4-over-par 146. Rounding out the top five in a tie for fifth place are Cooper Watt (2023) of Rockford, Ill. and first-round leader Dylan Drogemuller (2023) of Frankfort Ill., who are entering the final round at 5-over-par 147.
The final round of the 53rd ISJA will begin at 7:30 a.m. of No. 1 at Makray Memorial Golf Club.
