ALGONQUIN, Ill. – The Mid-American Junior Golf Tour’s Golf Club of Illinois Open came to a close Sunday after 36 holes of competitive golf. In the Boys Division, Danny Fisher (2019) of Lake Forest, Ill., took home his second MAJGT victory in 2018. Meanwhile, in the Girls Division, Sarah Arnold (2019) of St. Charles, Ill., finished atop the leaderboard after finishing the tournament two strokes better than the runner-ups.

The Golf Club of Illinois Open was a 36-hole, Stroke Play competition that was contested at the Golf Club of Illinois on April 28-29. The field was comprised of junior golfers ages 12-18 from Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. The Boys Division played the course as a par 71 from 6,864 yards, while the Girls Division played the course as a par 72 from 6,106 yards.

The MAJGT is designed for exceptionally talented junior golfers throughout the Midwest ages 12-18 and is nationally recognized by the Junior Golf Scoreboard and American Junior Golf Association with all of its events providing national exposure.

Fisher carded a bogey-free final round of 5-under-par 66, bringing his tournament total to 3-under-par 139—six shots better than the second place finishers. His final-round included back-to-back birdies on his opening holes – Nos. 1 and 2. This was his second MAJGT victory in 2018, his first coming at the Sanctuary Open earlier this month.

Coming in runner-up were Max Golding (2019) of Highland Park, Ill., and Evan Myers (2019) of Northbrook, Ill., who each carded a tournament total of 3-over-par 145. Rounding out the top five were Kevin O’Regan (2021) of Northbrook, Ill., and Marcus Smith (2020) of Rockford, Ill., who each finished the tournament with a 4-over-par 145.

In the Girls Division, Arnold finished the tournament with a 7-over-par 151 tournament total. During the final round Arnold carded two birdies and 11 pars. This is her first MAJGT victory, her prior best finish at an MAJGT even was in 2017 at the Heritage Bluffs Open where she finished runner-up.

In a three-way tie for second were Jo Baranczyk (2021) of Suamico, Wis., Lauren Nay (2018) of Naperville, Ill., and Haeri Lee (2018) of Buffalo Grove, Ill., who each finished the tournament with a 9-over-par 153 tournament total.

The MAJGT has a weekend break before heading to Yorkville, Ill., for the Whitetail Ridge Open on May 12-13.
