BARRINGTON, Ill. – The second round of the 50th Illinois State Junior Amateur came to a close Wednesday with Danny Fisher (2019) of Lake Forest, Ill., holding on to this first round lead. Following the round, the cut was made to the low 50 players and ties which included players who finished the two days at 18-over-par or better.

The Illinois State Junior Amateur (ISJA) is a 54 hole, stroke play event, with a cut after 36 holes to the top 50 and ties. The field, made up of male junior golfers from Illinois ages 12-18, played the second round on the par 71 course from 6,587 yards.

The Illinois Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing playing opportunities for its members ages 8-18, conducting educational clinics and events, and serving as a junior golf informational clearinghouse.

Fisher carded a first round score of 1-under-par 70, which included 6 birdies, followed it with a second round of 3-over-par 74 for a tournament total of 2-over-par 144. The Miami University commit earned his spot in the championship field as an exempt player after he finished tied for ninth in 2018.

Currently in second is Garrett Tighe (2019) of Algonquin, Ill., who finished with a 5-over-par 147 total. In a three way tie for third, after each carding a 6-over-par 148, were Mac McClear (2019) of Hinsdale, Ill., Bradley Goldstein (2019) of Highland Park, Ill., and Robert Beaubien Jr. (2019) of Barrington, Ill. In sixth is Parker Wisdom (2019) of Bloomington, Ill. After carding a 7-over-par 149.

Tied for seventh are Marcus Smith (2020) of Rockford, Ill., and Sean Markham (2020) of Barrington, Ill., who have an 8-over-par 150 total. Currently rounding out the top ten, after finishing with a 9-over-par 151 total, are Dori Lee (2022) of Buffalo Grove, Ill., and Evan Myers (2019) of Northbrook, Ill., and Weston Walker (2023) of Peoria, Ill.

Final round tee times will begin at 7:30 a.m. off Nos. 1 and 10 at Makray Memorial Golf Club.
