MUNDELEIN, Ill. – A champion has been named at the 8th MAJGT Girls Junior Amateur. Katharine Marshall (2023) of Elburn, Ill., earned champion honors after carding a 4-over-par 76 in the final round.

The field, made up of female junior golfers from Illinois ages 12-18, played the final round on the par 72 course from 5800 yards.

The Mid-American Junior Golf Tour (MAJGT) is an elite tour for golfers across the Midwest, ages 12-18, and is a part of the Illinois Junior Golf Association (IJGA). The IJGA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing playing opportunities for its members ages 8-18, conducting educational clinics and events, and serving as a junior golf informational clearinghouse.

Marshall started the final-round shotgun on the par-4 fourteenth with a two-shot lead. She headed to the front nine at even-par on the day, and followed that up with a 1-over-par front nine score of 37. She finished the tournament with an 7-over par total, carding rounds of 3-over-par 75 and 4-over-par 76. This was her third appearance at the MAJGT Girl’s Junior Amateur tournament, with her prior best finish coming in 2022 when she finished solo fourth.

In a three-way tie for second at 8-over-par was Courtney Beerheide (2026) of Elburn, Ill., Reese Wallace (2027) of South Barrington, Ill., and Kelly Cong (2024) of Naperville, Ill. Rounding out the top-5 at 11-over-par was Sadie Zorilla (2023) of Elk Grove Village, Ill.
