BARRINGTON, Ill. – A champion has been named at the Illinois Junior Golf Association’s 54th Illinois State Junior Amateur. Defending champion Grant Roscich (2024) of Glen Ellyn, Ill., earned the back-to-back victory after carding a 1-over-par 72 in the final round.

The Illinois State Junior Amateur (ISJA), also known as the Slovitt Cup, is a 54 hole, Stroke Play event, with a cut after 36 holes to the low 50 and ties. Fifty-three players made the cut this year at 16-over-par or better. The field, made up of male junior golfers from Illinois ages 12-18, played the final round on the par 71 course from 6900 yards.

The Illinois Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing playing opportunities for its members ages 8-18, conducting educational clinics and events, and serving as a junior golf informational clearinghouse.

Roscich started the day with a four-shot lead, which was cut in half at the turn after carding a 1-under-par 35. Following a double bogey at the 11th and a par on the 12th, Roscich found himself tied for the lead with Tyler Greenspahn (2023) of Winnetka, Ill. He played the last six holes even-par, ultimately winning by three. Roscich finished the tournament with a 1-under-par tournament total, carding rounds of 3-under-par 68, 1-over-par 72, and 1-over-par 72. This was his fifth appearance at the ISJA tournament, earning a T3 finish in 2021 and victories in 2022 & 2023.

Coming in runner-up was Tyler Greenspahn with a tournament total of 2-over-par 215. In third was Cooper Watt (2023) of Rockford, Ill. at 5-over-par 218. Rounding out the top-5 in a tie for fourth at 6-over-par 219 was Robby O’Regan (2023) of Northbrook, Ill., and Patrick Raupp (2024) of Arlington Heights, Ill.
