The Illinois Junior Golf Association is pleased to welcome Madeline Bond as the new Director of the Playing Member Division. Madeline returns to the IJGA after working for the American Junior Golf Association.

Madeline previously worked as a Tournament Coordinator Intern for the IJGA in 2015. She grew up playing in IJGA tournaments before attending Wheaton College where she was a member of the Women’s Golf Team.

“After interning with the Illinois Junior Golf Association in 2015, I spent another summer interning with the American Junior Golf Association. I went on to work there for nearly two and a half years full-time, both as a Tournament Manager and most recently as the Regional Manager of the South Central. The experience I gained with the AJGA was invaluable, as I had the opportunity to work with and learn from leaders in the golf industry. Most importantly, though, it solidified my passion for junior golf and the life lessons that it teaches,” said Madeline.

She continued, “Growing up playing in IJGA events and then at Wheaton College, I developed skills and characteristics far beyond golf – integrity, sportsmanship, relationship building, and perseverance. There are so many parallels between golf and life, which truly make it such a unique game. When I think about my summer with the IJGA, what stands out most is the way that I was able to connect with the juniors and be a small part in making a difference in their lives. Having played competitively in the Midwest, it was easy to relate to the juniors as they navigated through junior golf and beyond. The IJGA is one of the best in junior golf, and I’m thrilled to be able to come back home and be part of an organization that made such an impact on my life.”

“We are very lucky to have Madeline joining our team,” said IJGA Executive Director Matt Wennmaker. “She has extensive knowledge of the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) and she will be able to help our membership have a better understanding of the AJGA. On top of that, she is well versed in the USGA Rules of Golf. Prior to the postponement of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, she was hand picked to be a rules official for this event. Madeline is going to jump right in and it will be as if she has been working for the IJGA for several years.”

Madeline’s first day with the IJGA will be April 7, 2020, her email is madeline@ijga.org.
